    Brazilian Center for Cultural Exchange of Sacramento is a non profit, grassroots organization that exist for the purpose of sharing our Brazilian culture with the Sacramento community.

    The spectacular Camp Pollock property is located along the north bank Lower American River, just upstream from the confluence of the Sacramento River and the American River, near downtown Sacramento, CA. Previously run by the Boy Scouts of America since the early 1920’s, Camp Pollock’s courtyard, lodge and GROUP camp sites are available for rent. The Sacramento Valley Conservancy, a 501c3 non-profit land trust organization, facilitated the acquisition of Camp Pollock by the State Lands Commission in January 2013 and is managing the site in accordance with the American River Parkway Plan.

    The Center for Fathers and Families (the Center) is a private 501(c)(3) non-profit agency with a strong history of responding to the needs of fathers and their families by offering programs and services that lead to family growth, enrichment, and empowerment. As an established centerpiece within Sacramento communities, the Center’s goals are to re-establish and reiterate the importance of fatherhood in both the home and the community, and to promote the theme to all men that “Fatherhood is Forever and Fun.”

    The Front Street Animal Shelter does far more than caring for lost and abandoned animals in our community. The Shelter provides a variety of services that protect both citizens and animals, including: -Transporting sick or injured stray animals that were picked up by the animal control officers to the emergency vet -Rescuing animals locked inside hot vehicles and from abusive, cruel, or negligent conditions -Impounding stray dogs, whether they are friendly or aggressive, that roam freely on the street, on public property, or at a citizen’s residence -Administering a rabies control program -Helping citizens resolve nuisance problems, such as dogs barking excessively and dogs defecating or urinating on other people’s property -Investigating dog and cat bite complaints -Assisting other agencies such as the County of Sacramento Animal Care and Regulation, the Sacramento SPCA, the police department, the fire department, and the California Highway Patrol -Educating pet owners on the importance of spaying or neutering their dogs and cats

    Founded in 1993, Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary is a no-kill animal rescue group dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of homeless and abused animals throughout the Sacramento area. Needy animals are rescued, nurtured, and provided shelter and medical care (including spaying and neutering) before being placed in safe, loving, permanent homes. After adoption, Happy Tails animals may be returned at any time, no questions asked. Adult cats (one year and older) are up for adoption at the Happy Tails “Patricia L. Holmes Adoption Center” in East Sacramento. Cats, kittens, and often dogs are also cared for in their network of foster homes, and put up for adoption on the weekends at the PetSmart at Watt and Arden.

     An employment learning program for formerly homeless mothers with children, Plates provides women with a unique opportunity to learn valuable skills necessary to enter the culinary and service industries. Upon completion of the Plates program, graduates are qualified for positions in the culinary, retail and/or hospitality industries. Plates helps place them into careers in these industries.

    The Sacramento County Animal Shelter receives more than 15,000 animals each year and attempts to save and adopt as many animals as possible to private families, adoption partners, and other shelters. The shelter also features a spay/neuter clinic that is operated by the Sacramento SPCA.

    The Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (SFBFS) has a well-planned strategy guiding all of its programs. This strategy involves a large cadre of volunteers who offer integrity in mentoring, bridge-building, and walking hand-in-hand with others.

    The mission of the Sacramento Police Department is to work in partnership with the Community to protect life and property, solve neighborhood problems, and enhance the quality of life in our City. The Sacramento Police Department has always strived to represent excellence in policing. One way we do this is by staying one step ahead by anticipating trends, being proactive in all areas, and taking action before we have to react to crises. One of our most important ways to stay a step ahead of crime is through open communication with the community we serve. You, the community, are our best eyes and ears for what is happening in your neighborhoods, as well as helping us find ways to reduce crime. Working with you in an open and collaborative manner also holds us accountable which benefits the community most.

    The Children’s Safety Program provides life-saving safety education through its unique Safetyville USA program. Safetyville USA was opened at the Safety Center in 1984. The 1/3 scale town is complete with real sidewalks, crosswalks, streetlights, a police, fire and sheriff station, and businesses that can be found in any city. The goal of the program is to reduce injury and possible death of children resulting from preventable accidents. A trained volunteer tour guide leads children, preschool through third grade, through the town teaching them a variety of safety skills, including: fire, bicycle, pedestrian, electrical, stranger danger, and railroad safety. Since the opening of Safetyville USA in 1984, over 125,000 children have benefited from this experience. Approximately 10,000 children tour Safetyville USA each year. Safety Center is a 501(c)3 organization founded in 1934 whose mission is to reduce injuries and save lives by providing safety education and training. They accomplish this mission by promoting lifelong safety and health through a variety of community and professional programs.

    Shriners Hospitals for Children is an international health care system dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing specialty pediatric care, innovative research, and outstanding teaching programs.Children up to the age of 18 with orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate are eligible for admission and receive all care in a family-centered environment with no financial obligation to patients or families. Children up to age 18 are eligible for care at Shriners Hospitals for Children, if, in the opinion of the physicians, there is a reasonable possibility they can benefit from the specialized services available. Admission is based solely on a child’s medical needs. A family’s income or insurance status are not criteria for a child’s acceptance as a patient. There is no charge for services provided within Shriners Hospitals for Children facilities.
