Large black and white photos of Ernest Hemingway, his friends and wife, Mary, taken during three time periods when he was a visitor in Venice and Northern Italy. First during World War I when he drove an American Red Cross ambulance in Italy and was wounded and recuperated. Second when he brought his wife Mary to visit the region around Venice in 1948 as he worked on Across the River and Through the Trees. And his third and final visit when he spent time recuperating from two successive plane crashes in Africa.
