Danika Sudik directs Davis native Tom Burmester’s play about men at war in a distant land, and the stories the soldiers tell to get themselves home. At a small U.S. Army outpost in Afghanistan, a squad of battle-hardened soldiers await their return to the States. When a human terrain specialist assigned to the squad reveals a fanatically religious ideology, everyone takes a side. The cracks widen as the squad gears up for an unexpected patrol into a hotly contested remote village – which results in disaster. As a captain investigates the tragedy, she wonders how is it that every surviving member of the squad tells exactly the same heroic story of that fateful patrol.
