Sacramento film historian Thomas Gladysz will discuss his new book, Louise Brooks, the Persistent Star, at the Folsom Public Library. This slide show presentation focuses on the life and career of Louise Brooks, the silent film star known as “Lulu” whose popularity today rivals that of many better known stars of her time.
Thomas Gladysz is the Director of the Louise Brooks Society, which he founded in 1995. Its website has been praised in the pages of the San Francisco Chronicle, New York Times, USA Today, and Wired magazine. Gladysz, who has introduced Brooks’ films around the world, is the author of numerous articles and DVD commentaries, as well as three earlier books on the actress.
