Sikh Project

Presented by The California Museum at California Museum

Since 9/11, Sikh Americans have been the targets of increased hate crimes, discrimination, bullying, and racial profiling due to prejudice and misunderstandings about their customs and culture.

The national traveling exhibit “Sikh Project” challenges bigotry and misconceptions through portraits by British photographers Amit and Naroop capturing the beauty and diversity of Sikhs across the country.

Several California Sikhs are featured, including a third-generation farmer and one of the longest-serving turbaned law enforcement officers in the U.S.

The exhibit is presented in partnership with the Sikh Coalition for November’s California Sikh Awareness and Appreciation Month.
