Artist Emily Dilbeck grew up in Yolo County, constantly feeling nurtured by California’s beauty. She found her love for art after being told by a professor that she has an undiscovered talent for abstract painting. As an art teacher, she explains how she is inspired by her students’ discovery of their inner artist. Through this exhibit, she shows her belief of how everyone enters this world needing to be nurtured, but also having the ability to nurture someone else in the process.
“I believe no single person or thing can completely meet our need to be nurtured to the depths we were created to experience,” said Dilbeck in an email, “but doing what we love, reaching out to others to share our joys and our knowledge, expressing our feelings with words and images can get us close.”
