Ken Burns called Jonathan Eig a “master storyteller.” Eig is the author of five books, three of them New York Times best sellers.
The New York Times review of Eig’s book Ali: A Life offered this: “This richly researched, sympathetic yet unsparing portrait of a controversial figure for whom the personal and the political dramatically fused could not come at a more appropriate time in our beleaguered American history.
Muhammad Ali, on the very day following his victory over the heavyweight champion Sonny Liston, in 1964, chose to defy the world’s expectations by converting to the Nation of Islam – “I’m not a Christian anymore. I know where I’m going and I know the truth and I don’t have to be what you want me to be.”
A book signing will follow.
