Jared and the Mill are an indie country band that would fit right in at a rural bar or on a Spotify playlist sponsored by Urban Outfitters. Their music can either be atmospheric and quiet or loud and boisterous. The band often makes use of celebratory group vocals over gospel-esque organs to give their songs a timeless bent. They fit right in with Southern rockers Alabama Shakes or soul-country aficionado Sturgill Simpson. This Arizona quintet have a bond that runs deeper than the usual band mates, and it shows when they perform. They will often fall into long sessions of improvisation and chemistry that will take you back to the west coast jam bands of the ’60s, but with a country bent.
