Crocker Summer Film Series: The Misfits (SOLD OUT)...

Presented by Crocker Art Museum at Crocker Art Museum

The Summer Film Series returns, this year showcasing the power of black-and-white. Discover how directors have used this monochromatic style, by choice or by necessity, to achieve a variety of effects, as you explore each movie with local film historian Jacob Greenberg. A black-and-white short film will precede each screening.

Starring Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable, written by Arthur Miller, and directed by John Houston, The Misfits leaps off the screen with passion, drama, and sheer star power. The story of a recently divorced woman in a bourgeoning relationship with an aging cowboy in the heat of the Nevada desert. The Misfits is the final film for both Gable, who died days after filming ended, and Monroe, who succumbed to an overdose the following year. Both give legendary performances, and The Misfits is now considered one of the great films of its era.
