Terry Riley, a world-renowned composer and musician, is curating a music series in his hometown, the little mountain village of Camptonville.
In 2015, the Camptonville Chapter of the Masonic Lodge generously donated their historic building to the community, whose members have stepped up to support the idea of a cultural center with both their money and volunteer efforts to help promote cutting edge contemporary music in the newly made-over Performing Arts Center. It was apparent at first sight that the main ceremonial hall had a wonderful vibration and would make a terrific intimate venue for concerts, poetry readings, and other similar events.
Terry immediately offered to perform there and was so energized by it that he has arranged to bring in other musicians who want to share the experience in this unique and interactive setting. Terry believes this intimate performing arts center of about 110 seats has tremendous potential to make this wonderful Sierra Nevada Foothills town a cultural destination.
