Madame Vihil Vigil and Sir Yolie Reyes invitie the community to take part in this long standing dream of having a gallery for the Sacramento LGBT Community to exhibit their art work without having to pay for their exhibition space up front.

Since then, Autism Speaks has grown into the nation’s largest autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. We are proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish and look forward to continued successes in the years ahead. At Autism Speaks, our goal is to change the future for all who struggle with autism spectrum disorders. We are dedicated to funding global biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and cure for autism; to raising public awareness about autism and its effects on individuals, families, and society; and to bringing hope to all who deal with the hardships of this disorder. We are committed to raising the funds necessary to support these goals. Autism Speaks aims to bring the autism community together as one strong voice to urge the government and private sector to listen to our concerns and take action to address this urgent global health crisis. Located in Sacramento, the CAP Center is home to three unique agencies. Governed by a single board of directors, each organization takes a different but complementary approach to prevent child abuse. Agencies at the CAP Center include the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Sacramento, Lift the Children and Prevent Child Abuse California.

    The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. It was founded in 1967 by Irwin M. and Suzanne Rosenthal, William D. and Shelby Modell, and Henry D. Janowitz, M.D. Four decades ago, the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation created the field of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis research. Today, the Foundation funds cutting-edge studies at major medical institutions, nurtures investigators at the early stages of their careers, and finances underdeveloped areas of research. Educational workshops and symposia, together with our scientific journal, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, enable medical professionals to keep pace with this rapidly growing field. No wonder the National Institutes of Health has commended the Foundation for "uniting the research community and strengthening IBD research." Their mission is to cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.

The Gender Health Center strives to provide excellent counseling/therapy services to anyone who expresses the need as well as anyone who self identifies or is perceived to be gender variant. Services embrace the psychological well-being and self-fulfillment of individuals coming out and/or beginning or in the transition process in a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment. Fees are on a sliding scale to help make services as easily accessible and available to everyone. They also offer resources and referrals to other LGBT friendly organizations.

The Health Education Council is dedicated to promoting quality of life and community norms which include the prevention of diseases; the right to a healthy environment; respect for individual rights, cultural traditions, ethnic and linguistic diversity, shared community responsibility and involvement; and innovative and visionary responses which meet the unique needs of the populations we serve.  The Health Education Council began operations in 1979 as the Hypertension Council. The Council’s name changed in 1990 to reflect its expansion into other health promotion programs. The Council incorporated in 1991 as an independent 501c(3) nonprofit organization.

      Mended Little Hearts is a support program for parents of children with heart defects and heart disease, and is dedicated to inspiring hope in those who care for the littlest heart patients of all. Mended Little Hearts offers resources and a caring support network as families find answers and move forward to find healing and hope. Partnering with hospitals to provide several programs, Mended Little Hearts connects families in crisis with other parents who have survived the shock of learning a child has a heart problem, navigated the maze of medical decisions and procedures, and mapped out a plan for the future. Monthly support groups help parents understand that they are not alone and that there is hope. Many meetings include educational speakers to connect parents with the resources they need to care for their child. Members listen, share their experiences, and discuss issues that impact the family. Periodic social events bring members and supporters together and offer a safe setting for children with heart defects to connect with one another. Accredited volunteers make on-site visits to parents whose children have been diagnosed with heart defects or are undergoing treatment. Bags containing packets of health information and brochures, toiletries and other hospital necessities are provided to families with children in the hospital.
