Born and raised in India and educated in the United States, Vir Das transforms the western image of the typical Kwik-E-Mart humor into a show that is raw, edgy, intelligent and relevant. Vir’s show is a marriage between theater and comedy, his audiences find themselves captivated by his fast-paced high energy delivery and clever wit.
Through his various tours, including The History of Comedy and Battle of the Sexes, he has sold over half a million tickets as a stand-up. While he spent his formative years in India, his comedy perspective is accessible and relatable to a mainstream audience and he is poised to take over the United States with his unique point-of-view. He recently concluded a two-week run at London’s prestigious Soho Theatre, and this summer, he was featured at the Montreal Just For Laughs comedy festival as well as the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Vir climbed the ranks of the Bollywood elite in various films such as “BadMaash Company,” “Delhi Belly” and “Revolver Rani” to become their country’s version of Ben Stiller or Adam Sandler: a leading man with impenetrable comedic chops. The Hollywood Reporter has said, “Das Exhibits a deft comic timing and a winning vulnerability… A sparkling comic performance.”
Whether Vir is on stage, behind a guitar, or in front of a camera, he is destined to be an international comedy phenomenon with an unlimited supply of hilarious misbehavior proving funny is funny.
