Tarana Burke: 'Me Too' Movement

The movement began in 2006 to help survivors of sexual violence find ways of help through their process of healing. Burke, founder of the #MeToo movement, originally came up with the concept when young women would share their sexual assault stories with her. As a way to encourage them, she would let them know that they weren’t alone because Burke herself was assaulted three times.
