The Agricultural Sustainability Institute at UC Davis presents its annual celebration of leadership in sustainable agriculture in California with talks from leaders worth recognizing.
Anya Fernald, CEO of Belcampo Meat Co.– a collection of organic ranches, butcher shops, and restaurants in California and an agritourism venture in Belize– will present on her work expanding awareness of and access to sustainable foods. Fernald was recently recognized in Food & Wine’s “40 under 40” list and featured in profiles in The New York Times and The New Yorker. She founded Slow Food Nation and has served as a regular judge on Iron Chef America.
David Lewis, A University of California Cooperative Extension Advisor in Marin county is this year’s recipient of the Bradford Rominger Agricultural Sustainability Leadership Award. At the event, David will be given the award and he will give a talk on his work protecting watersheds in the North Bay, including work to reduce pollution from dairies impacted Tomales Bay oysters and helping ranchers reduce runoff to protect Coho salmon.
The event is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception.
