Old New Year Benefit Concert

All proceeds go to the re-gilding of our beautiful church domes.

It is call the “Old New Year” because members of the Russian Orthodox Church use the “Julian” calendar for all of Liturgical practices and holidays. This means holiday such as Christmas and The New Year are celebrated 13 days later than the standard “Gregorian” calendar. Come and bring in the “Old New Year” Russian Style!

The concert will take place in the church itself. This provides the opportunity to experience the liturgical hymns and seasonal compositions in the acoustics of the church building, surrounded by Russian Orthodox religious art and architecture. The first half of the concert will consist of Russian Orthodox liturgical hymns that correspond to the season. The second half will consist of a set of seasonal folk pieces or “колядки” (kolyadki.) Following the concert there will be a reception in the church hall as well as a gift shop featuring beautiful souvenirs all the way from Russia! All are welcome.
