The Japanese sidestitch, or stab binding, became popular in the 14th century. Participants will bind three Japanese-style books in a basic stab binding pattern, a tortoise shell binding pattern, and a hemp pattern. They will learn to pierce sewing stations and bind or sew the book. The final products make beautiful gifts or journals.
