If Color Was Language Street Art Exhibit

Drew Ochwat will be displaying “a story of color and the relationship between street art and abstract expressionism” in the upcoming art exhibition, If Color Was Language in the University Union’s Gallery.

This Gallery Exhibit displays a street and abstract expressive format of art. Drew Ochwat utilizes the mantra “Convey something you feel” and “Express yourself” on his professional art Instagram page. He is a local Sacramento artist, and uses his art to enrich the Sacramento community with abstract, expressive artwork. In an artist statement, Drew expressed: “Art and color has become a powerful way for me to articulate and express myself. When I’m painting I feel absolute freedom in expressing myself. I choose certain colors and color combinations to represent an experience I’ve been through while keeping in mind the various color stereotypes within our culture.” Drew has painted room dividers, wooden figures, and many more abstract forms of artwork. He also makes great use of Japanese water color for a lot of his art projects. One primary form of abstract art that Drew creates is painted glass projects.

Note: The reception for If Color Was Language will be held on Thursday, September 26 th. The event takes place from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. in the Gallery, located on the second floor of the University Union. The exhibit, along with its reception, is open to the general public. Attendants are welcome to meet the artist and enjoy appetizers provided at the event.
