From the deserts of Africa to the frozen arctic of Alaska, animals have adapted to some extreme conditions to survive. In this family workshop you will start out by meeting the Powerhouse resident desert tortoise and learn more about the adaptations he’s developed for life in the hot, California desert. Replicate adaptations by making a mucous cocoon for a toy frog, protect it from dehydration during the dry season, and concocting simulated blubber to keep your hand warm in icy waters.
