Empanadas are a tantalizing Spanish specialty, essentially a turnover made with a flaky pastry crust and a sweet or savory filling. The class will prepare two kinds of empanadas: a savory with chicken, carrots and potatoes served with a four-herb chimichurri sauce, and a sweet pineapple and dried cherry version. Students will gain skills in making pastry dough, rolling, filling and shaping empanadas and enjoy them with a glass of vino tinto. This is a hands-on class.
