The workshop will introduce Deep Listening Pieces and earlier Sonic Meditations of the late composer Pauline Oliveros (1932-2016). She founded “Deep Listening,” which came from her childhood fascination with sounds and from her works in concert music with composition, improvisation and electro-acoustics. She described Deep Listening as “a way of listening in every possible way to everything possible to hear no matter what you are doing. There is more to listening than meets the ear!”
This workshop aspires to facilitate across boundaries and across abilities, musicians and non-musicians and children of all ages. Attendees may wish to bring note-taking materials.
Amy Melissa Reed is an artist, composer, Deep Listening facilitator and Co-founder of MA Series Arts, a 501(c)3 artist driven organization dedicated to support, research, and practice by Womyn, Queer of color, and Trans Artists.
