Capitol Chamber Players closes its 30th Anniversary Season with Baroque to Present Finale. The concert will be the final series concert of the 30-year history of Capitol Chamber Players. Founding members, Rona Commins, soprano; Maquette Kuper, flute; and Rejean Anderson, cello, will perform in this historic concert. Capitol Chamber Players closes its 30th Anniversary Season with Baroque to Present Finale. The concert will be the final series concert of the 30-year history of Capitol Chamber Players. Founding members, Rona Commins, soprano; Maquette Kuper, flute; and Rejean Anderson, cello, will perform in this historic concert. Additionally, Robert Bloch, Catherine Heusner violins, Gay Currier, viola, Robin Houston, baroque bassoon, and Susan Erickson, harpsichord are on the roster of musicians.
Music to be performed on the concert will include baroque music to premieres of local composers Robert Bloch and Lawrence Frank. Robin Houston will perform baroque works on his baroque bassoon, including a Telemann Sonata as well as Robert Bloch’s contemporary rendition of a sonata in the style of the baroque composer Zipoli. Harpsichordist and musicologist, Susan Erickson will perform Toccata Nona in A minor by Girolamo Frescobaldi and will speak briefly about Frescobaldi’s preface to this collection as it is a major source for 17th-century performance practice. The premiere of Lawrence Frank’s String Quartet will be performed by Robert Bloch and Catherine Huesner, violins, Gay Currier, viola and Rejean Anderson cello. Soprano Rona Commins, will perform a series of 17th-century art songs accompanied by the string quartet. Flutist Maquette Kuper will join the quartet and conclude the concert with the Argentine composer Alberto Ginerstera’s festive Impresiones de la Puna.
