The pioneers found California teeming with wildlife, hence names like Elk Grove, Antelope, and Los Gatos. Both wild and domesticated animals played a large part in 19th century life. From horse and cattle ranches, beekeepers and ostrich farms, to pet bears, boa constrictors, parakeets, and escaped monkeys, the Old City Cemetery Committee will share stories of critters and their humans.
