Alex Jenkins Quartet: Live Recording Concert

This is a new concept for MVJ, they’ve recorded and filmed their shows for documentation purposes, and have done some Facebook Live, but they’ve never had an artist come to them and say that they wanted to record an album “Live,” in concert. This is definitely a first for them, and they’re very excited to host this event.

When you come to this show, please have the mindset that you are literally stepping onto a “LIVE” soundstage. There will be mics on all instruments, as well as ambient stereo mics. The band could very well do more than one take on a song. They ask the audience to enjoy this process and help by remaining very quite throughout the tracking. There won’t be a sound system set up this evening, only recording gear and lights to set the mood. What an incredible opportunity to say “I was there for the recording of this record! I was sitting in the front row and watched it happen!” This is a fantastic opportunity to watch seasoned vets play new jazz music, and see the recording process firsthand.
